Due to COVID-19 the Auckland Mathematical Olympiad was cancelled for 2020 however Andrew Chen has created an online mathematical Olympiad to be held on May 9th.
The New Zealand Online Mathematical Olympiad (NZOMO) is independently run. It is not affiliated with any other mathematics competition, organisation, or business. Andrew graduated from St Kentigern College in 2018 and is now studying Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom.
Andrew has set up this online Olympiad with 3 goals in mind
- to enrich students’ experience of mathematics by raising interesting questions of a nature not often seen in school classrooms;
- to promote mathematical Olympiads as an activity; and
- to help students understand and appreciate the concept of mathematical proof
