Liz Sneddon will be joining NMA to share what she is doing to prepare her students for the new NCEA changes. She will start by focussing on juniors and how courses can be designed to prepare ākonga for this new style of teaching such as weaving the strands together and shifting towards doing Numeracy in Year 9/10.
Liz will then focus on Year 11 including what will and will not be covered in the level 6 content, how to incorporate Mātauranga Māori, what courses might look like and some sample assessments to help kaiako start designing courses.
Liz is well-known as a statistics expert in NZ and is the recipient of multiple teaching awards. She is currently a teacher at Saint Kentigern College in Auckland, a member of the SEG group and maintains a website to share resources with teachers and students, particularly in the area of statistics
