Auckland University’s annual problem-solving competition for teams of secondary students throughout New Zealand is happening on 5 August. Registration closes on Friday 28 July.
This team event organised by the University of Auckland’s Department of Engineering Science and sponsored by Orion Health and Fisher & Paykel Healthcare is for senior secondary students (Year 12 and year 13)
Last year, 179 teams from 61 schools across New Zealand took part in answering the question:
What’s the largest payload that could be launched into orbit by slingshot?
Team 1185 from Papatoetoe High School took out the main prize with each team member winning $1000
Runners up were Team 1049 from St Peters College, Cambridge and Team 1187 from Takapuna Grammar School. Team members each taking hone $500
