The common practice model is an important part of the Literacy Communications and Maths strategy.

Broadly, the New Zealand Curriculum describes ‘what’ is taught, and the Common Practice Model focuses on ‘how’ it is taught.

Phase 1 of the common practice model was released on Friday 17th March. Phase 2 is coming later in the year

Feedback:

To support kaiako in their teaching practice the MoE want to find out the most effective ways of delivering kaiako guides and guidance.

They also want to know the types of resources you use in the classroom with ākonga so that we can develop implementation supports that offer real value.

If you are interested in sharing your insights and providing feedback on either of these, please email literacy.communication.maths@education.govt.nz.

More formal feedback channels will be shared in the coming months
